Act As A: the three words that change what AI gives you

Most people ask AI questions the way they'd ask a stranger at a bus stop. Then they wonder why the answer sounds like it came from a stranger at a bus stop.
Here is the frame that changes it: act as a.
Act as a master business consultant, and tell me how to reorganize my company. Act as an organizational psychologist, and tell me how to answer this email from my boss. Act as a family therapist, and help me explain to my wife why this season of the business needs so many hours.
Three words, and the model stops being a search box and starts being a specialist.
Context is the multiplier
The frame gets you the right expert. Context gets you the right answer. Why did your boss write that email? What do you think is behind it? Feed the model the reason and it writes a better reply. The more context you give it, the better the output. Every time.
The newer models actually prefer you to ramble. Talk to it the way you think: here's what I want, here's why, here's what I'm not sure about, here's what happens if this fails. That messy paragraph beats a tidy one-liner because the mess carries the context.
Urgency changes the plan
Tell the model to build a business plan and it gives you the standard startup sequence. Tell it you have three months of runway and a family to feed, and the plan changes shape: shorter path, faster cash, different priorities. The machine weighs urgency the way a good advisor does, but only if you say it out loud.
Run it Monday
- Pick one real decision you're facing this week.
- Open with act as a, and name the exact specialist you wish you could afford.
- Ramble the full context: goal, reason, constraints, stakes.
- Ask for the plan, then push back twice before accepting anything.
That last step matters enough that it gets its own post: never take the first answer.
